Is Graczykowski the Man in East Providence?

Vernon's assistant town administrator is a finalist for the East Providence city manager's post.

The has chosen a new city manager and a top-ranking official in Vernon could be that person.

Peter Graczykowski, Vernon's assistant town administrator and human resources director, is the East Providence council has been considering, East Providence Patch reported.

Graczykowski has been with Vernon since 2009.

The other finalist is Kenneth Fields, currently the city manager for the Seminole Tribe in Florida, East Providence Patch reported.

Graczykowski interviewed publicly in Rhode Island in early September. The East Providence council on Thursday voted unanimously in executive session to offer one finalist a contract, but will not release the name of that person until the contract is accepted, East Providence Patch reported.

Vernon Mayor Jason McCoy said he wishes Graczykowski luck.

"It's a great opportunity for Peter,'' McCoy said. "Look, no one in government stays in one position. If he gets the job, it's great for him. If he stays in Vernon, it's great for the town because Peter is a great asset to the town.''

Graczykowski's voice mail at Vernon Town Hall indicated he was away from the office until the middle of the month.
