Election On, But Locations Could be Condensed

Officials in preliminary discussions about one polling place.

The local elections scheduled for Tuesday are so far going on as scheduled.

But the polling places might look a little different.

And there may be only one.

At Tuesday's town staff meeting, local officials pondered what to do if the schools normally used for voting are still without power.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway canceled classes all week. Vernon Center Middle School has a generator and CL&P was even making progress in its progress in that neighborhood.

Maple Street School had power, but there was a question about safety because of wires.

If the town does switch to a central voting location, Center 375 at 375 Hartford Turnpike is one consideration because of CL&P's progress along the commercial district.

Rockville High School is another consideration.

Town officials are slated to discuss theater again on Wednesday.
