Election Notebook: GOP Council Candidate Presents Bio

The latest from the election front.

The following introductory biographical information has been submitted by Kimberly Appleyard, Republican Candidate for Town Council: 

• I’ve been a Vernon Resident since 1989 and have been a registered Republican since 1980.

• I’m happily married to 1SG Daniel Appleyard and we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year. We have two wonderful boys, Michael (22) and Brian (20), who both work and are putting themselves through college.

• I’m employed with the Vernon Board of Education, as a  Certified Para-Educator, at Maple Street School (1998- present).

• I’ve been a volunteer with the CT ARNG Family Support Group since 1989. Currently serving as the Family Readiness Group Leader for my husband’s unit; C. Co. 3/142nd Aviation Regiment stationed in Windsor Locks, CT.

• I’ve served on the Board of Ryefield Condominiums in the mid to late 90’s as: Board Member, Vice-President, and President.  

• I’ve volunteered as a Coach/Assistant Coach for Rockville Pee-Wee Soccer and Rockville Little League.  I also volunteered with the Vernon Lego League, was a Reading Volunteer at Maple Street School, classroom volunteer, and room parent. 

• In years past, I have worked for a Dental Practice as their Insurance/Financial Coordinator and was heavily involved with Billing, Credit, and Collection for 9 years. Prior to that I worked for Connecticut General as a Dental Benefit Analyst.
