Budget Address Slated for Tonight

Budget will be Jason McCoy's fourth as mayor.

Mayor Jason McCoy will deliver his budget address for the 2011-2012 fiscal year tonight and then present the spending plan to the Town Council.

The council is scheduled to convene at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

It will be McCoy’s fourth budget address as Mayor.

“As Mayor, I believe that government has a responsibility to provide solid fiscal budgeting which considers protections in the areas of public health, public safety and public education,” McCoy said.

McCoy has hinted that the budget will practical and could be interpreted
as downright frugal.

“To help facilitate these responsibilities, I have created a sensible budget and developed new programs to bring additional revenue to the town by balancing what we want and need with what we can afford,” he said.

The town Charter mandates that the mayor  deliver his budget to the Town Council no later than March 15.

McCoy said he is urging residents to attend the meeting. Those who cannot make it to Town Hall can watch Mayor McCoy’s budget address live on the Community Voice Channel (Channel 96).
