Ackert, Guglielmo, Get Endorsements

Both will be on the election ticket.

Vernon's two Republican state legislators have been endorsed unanimously for re-election in the fall.

State Rep. Timothy Ackert has received a unanimous endorsement from the Republican Party for the 8th House District, which includes Columbia, Coventry, Tolland and Vernon.

Matt O’Brien, of Coventry, endorsed Ackert and Dan Sullivan of Vernon and Gary Littlefield of Columbia seconded the nomination.

In accepting the endorsement, Ackert said, "It has truly been an honor to serve the 8th District over these last two years. I have been very engaged in the legislative process, attending all of the committee meetings, public hearings and house sessions.  Along with that, I have been holding public forums and office hours in each district. I have worked to lower taxes, improve the job climate and started the process of education reform. If re-elected, I will continue to work on keeping our college graduates in Connecticut, improve the business climate and make Connecticut a better state to retire in."

State Sen. Tony Guglielmo has been endorsed in the 35th District.

"I come from a part of the state that values hard work and common sense," he said in his acceptance speech. "I try to bring that to hartford with me every day."

Guglielmo is the deputy minority leader of the state Senate and the ranking  member of both of the Labor and Public Employees Committee and the Public Safety and Security Committee. He is also a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding, Internship and Program Review and Investigation committees.
