Woman Tried to Buy Drugs From Officers on New Rockville Beat: Police

The incident took place near the police sub-station.

A 44-year-old Vernon woman was taken into custody late Thursday night after trying to buy drugs from a pair of police officers working the new beat dedicated to Downtown Rockville, said.

The incident took place near the sub-station at 22 Ward St., police said. The woman, Betzaida Torres, lives at 85 Vernon Ave., Apt. 1, police said.

She is charged with attempted possession of marijuana, attempted possession of narcotics and disorderly conduct. The incident took place at 11:24 p.m., police said.

Police said she first approached the officers about buying marijuana and then inquired about obtaining crack cocaine from them.

Her bond was set at $1,500 and she was assigned a June 5 court date, an arrest report indicates.
