Woman Charged After Altercation at Free Spirit

The incident took place on Saturday night, police said.

A scuffle at a local watering hole on Saturday left a Vernon woman in the cooler for a bit then out on bail and a court appointment, police said.

Police aid that at 10:48 p.m. on Saturday, Toni Gillespiermervin, 26, of 60 Parkwest Dr., was involved in a "physical altercation" with another woman at the Free Spirit Cafe on Kelly Road.

As officers responded to the scene, they noticed Gillespiermervin driving away band then stopped her, according to an arrest report.

The report also indicates that while speaking other, police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and she failed field sobriety tests.

She was charged with driving under the influence, operating a vehicle under suspension and without the proper insurance, police said.

Her bond was set at $500 and she was to appear in court on Monday, police said.
