Vernon Woman Arrested in Another Strange Incident

She is facing a DUI charge.

A Vernon woman has been involved in another strange incident, according to an arrest report.

Vernon Police said that at 12:32 p.m. on Wednesday, Lisa Perkins, 49, was arrested  for driving under the influence when she was found sitting in a car in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 903 Hartford Turnpike - Route 30.

She was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17, police said.

Back in June, despite a protective order that stipulates she was not to come within 100 yards of her husband, Perkins visited him at his house down the road from that 7-Eleven, had a few drinks with him and wound up with him sprawled across the hood of her car, police records indicate.

She was eventually arrested at a local hotel, according to the records.

The bizarre set of circumstances began when Perkins drove to the home at 977 Hartford Turnpike, police said. A protective order prevents her from having contact with him and she is not allowed closer than a football field away from him, police said.

Testimony from Perkins indicates that she was drinking with her husband and that when she attempted to leave, he jumped on the hood of her car because he was afraid she was too drunk to drive, according to police records.

She continued to drive and he removed himself from the car's hood, police said.

Perkins was charged with violating the protective order but not DUI, police said.
