Vernon Police Waiting to Question Suspect in CVS Incident

An unsuccessful robbery turned into a car crash in Hartford, police said.

Vernon police are sending a get well soon card to a suspect in an attempted robbery at a local CVS.

That's because the suspect is in an area hospital after a car chase involving Hartford police early Wednesday and needs to get better before questioning, a law enforcement official said.

Vernon police spokesman Lt. William Meier said someone tried to grab money out of the CVS at the Talcottville Road-Pitkin Road intersection just after 4 a.m. this morning. It is a 24-hour store.

The robber was unsuccessful and then fled the establishment, Meier said. A description of the suspect was then sent out to area dispatchers and a matching vehicle was spotted soon after, Meier said.

Hartford police eventually apprehended the suspect. Meier was unsure just how involved the chase was, but said the suspect was injured in a subsequent crash and was taken to an area hospital.

Meier said the suspect will likely be charged in the CVS investigation.

Anyone with any information on the incident can call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
