Police officers and firefighters rushed to a Brooklyn Street address on Wednesday afternoon, where a car was teetering precariously over a stone wall.
Fire Chief William Call said the driver apparently made contact with the accelerator as she was attempting to apply the brakes.
The call came in at about 3:30 p.m., just as the afternoon shift was beginning at the Vernon Police Department. Cruisers went to 79 Brooklyn St. amid reports that a woman was trapped in her car as it was partially hanging over the wall. The property is in a hilly area of Rockville and Call said it was "a good drop" to the adjoining yard.
Police were able to secure the vehicle with a rope until the Fire Department could put a winch truck in place to pull the car to safety, Call said.
Police also said it is likely the driver inadvertently depressed the accelerator.
The car did not seem to be severely damaged, but the driver requested that it be taken to a local body shop to be looked at, police said.
