Vernon Police Blotter: Last Weekend in Setember

A Vernon man was charged with a traffic signal violation and driving under the influence after he failed a series of field sobriety tests during a traffic stop at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

Mark Sherman, 58, of 12 Elizabeth Lane, was taken into custody, processed at Vernon police headquarters and released on a $500 bond, police said. His court date is Oct. 9, police said.



A Vernon woman has been charged with risk of injury to a child after a complain was made about her, police said.

Melissa Billie, 33, of 133 West Main St., was taken into custody at 4:41 p.m. on Saturday, police said. She was held on a $20,000 bond while awaiting a Monday court appearance, police said.



At 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, Alvin Ducatte, 55, of 14 Windermere Ave, Apt. 2, was taken into custody on an extraditable warrant issued by Orange County, FL, police said.

Police did not elaborate on the charges in Florida.



An Ellington man is facing two charges after a motor vehicle crash at 6:57 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Joseph Derench, 59, of 11 Bridge St., Ellington, was charged with driving too close and DUI, police said.

He was to appear in court on Monday on a $500 bond, police said.
