Vernon Fire Personnel Deliver Holiday Cheer

More than 450 children in Rockville and Vernon received a toy on Dec. 19 through the department's annual Toys for Tikes program.

For 50 years members of the Vernon Fire Department have set out to make Christmas a bit more special for children who may have otherwise not received a gift this holiday.

Through the department’s Toys for Tikes program, fire personnel collect toys and donations from local businesses, school students and private daycare facilities and then distribute the gifts to children in the community.

On Dec.19, fire personnel distributed toys to more than 450 children in town, according to Vernon Fire Capt. Charles Konarski.
