Vernon Fire Department Gets One Ladder Truck Back

Repairs to Tower 141 are done.

One of the Vernon Fire Department's two ladder trucks was put back into service on Monday.

Mayor George Apel delivered the following news release announcing the truck's return:

On August 24, 2013, Vernon Fire Department Ladder Truck No. 141 was returned to service.

“I am pleased that our Public Works mechanics have been able to coordinate the return of Ladder 141 to service on Saturday, August 24th, ahead of schedule”, said Mayor George F. Apel. "Tower 141 will serve the residents of Vernon and our volunteer fire department well for a long time to come.”

Ladder truck 141 had been pulled from service due to hydraulic fluid leaking from the rear hydraulic cylinders. Further inspections revealed additional repair and replacement work was warranted on the fuel tank, and assorted air bag suspension components.
