Updated: Motorcycle Crash Closes Route 140 in Ellington

The bike and two vehicles collided at Tomoka and Maple and LifeStar was called to the scene.

Two vehicles were traveling wesbound on Maple Street (Route 140) and the motorcycle was traveling east. The motorcycle collided with both vehicles.

The only injury was to the motorcycle driver, a man near 60 years of age, who was taken to St. Francis Hospital via LifeStar helicopter.

The intersection will remain closed while the accident reconstruction team does its investigation.

State police and emergency medical personnel rushed to the intersection of Tomoka Avenue and Maple Street in Ellington just before 9 p.m. on Sunday after a motorcycle collided with two vehicles.

The road was immediately closed when authorities arrived and remained so 90 minutes after the crash while state police investigated the scene. Authorities said the investigation could take some time.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, authorities said.

The motorcycle driver was first tended to in an and then transported to an area hospital via LifeStar helicopter.
