Update: Student Sends High School Bomb Threat Over Twitter

Principal said the student responsible was arrested.

A Tweeting student sent a bomb threat to Rockville High School today through another student, according to an electronic alert sent to parents from the school system.

The alert was sent at 2:25 p.m.

The alert message indicated that one student sent a message to another on Twitter indicating a bomb was to be brought to the high school on Loveland Hill Road.

"School authorities and local police were notified and a thorough investigation was conducted," the alert said. "We are confident that our students and our building are safe and free from danger."

The alert mentioned nothing about an evacuation. At about 3:15 p.m., Vernon police said they were still working on the case.

"Basically a student approached administration regarding a Tweet and was concerned," RHS Principal Eric Baim said. "We immediately investigated and determined that the school was in no danger of a threat."

Baim said the student, a female minor, was arrested.
