Spirit Moves Police to Charge Derby Man

There was a fracas at a local watering hole.

A Derby man has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace after a Sunday morning incident at the free Spirit Cafe, police said.
 
Jeffrey Curriere, 33, was in a dispute over payment with a friend that led  to a chair being thrown and the owner of the establishment being hit by a piece of broken fence as a result, police said. 

Curriere left the bar and police found him at Denny's at the Tri-City Plaza, according to a report.

Kristen Leigh English, 18, of 29 Claire Rd., was charged with failure to respond to an infraction last Friday night, police said. 

She was issued a ticket for public intoxication at Dart Hill Park via local Ordinance 295, police said.

Clyde Gill, 58, of 401 Talcottville Rd., was charged on Friday with failure to appear for not paying a ticket, police said. 

He was also charged with driving under suspension, police said. 

• 

Lee Colt, 26, of 175 Union St., was charged with failing to pay a $75 infraction ticket on Friday, police said. 

The ticket was for trespassing in June behind the Franklin Park apartments, police said.
