The checkpoint is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m.

You better watch out …

You better not imbibe …

Then you better not drive, we're telling you why …

A DUI checkpoint is coming to town …

Tonight.

Vernon police, in conjunction with the Metro Traffic Services Unit, has scheduled a sobriety checkpoint for local roads from 6 p.m. tonight to 2 a.m. on Sunday.

A police spokesman said the exact locations of potential checkpoints are still being decided, but added that that Route 83, Route 74, Bolton Road, South Frontage Road, Route 31 and Route 30 are likely to be involved.

The checkpoint is being funded through a federal Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Program grant. The efforts are part of a regional effort to combat drunken driving through the use of checkpoints and roving patrols.
