Police: Dealership Employee Charged With Taking Cars Without Permision
He ran up some mileage, police said.
It was a little more serious than, "Hey Dad, I'm borrowing the car" over at Scranton Motors, according to a police report.
Vernon police on Thursday charged an employee with first-degree larceny and second-degree criminal trover for taking cars without permission and racking up personal mileage.
Vernon police identified the employee as Kevin Vacon, 38, and said he lives in Enfield.
Police said they had been notified of Vacon's antics and had been keeping a close eye on the 777 Talcottville Road dealership. Vacon was seen in a car belonging to the new vehicle fleet at Scranton after his work shift on Thursday at the nearby Stop & Shop lot.
Police approached the car and took him into custody, a police spokesman said.
Police said the mileage put on dealership-owned cars was "in the hundreds."
Vacon was released on a $10,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Sept 10, police said.
