Rockville Heat Raising Money for Children's Hospital on Saturday

The charity hockey game is scheduled for Saturday at the XL Center in Hartford.

The Rockville Heat has a charity hockey game scheduled for Saturday at the XL Center in Hartford.  

The contest is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. before the Hartford Wolf Pack game. Tickets are $16 and are good for both games. 

The Rockville Heat is a hockey team organized by the Vernon Police Department and made up mostly of law enforcement personnel. The team plays a few times each year in charity events.  

In December, the Heat played a game against the Flying Yankees, a team from the Connecticut Air National Guard, and raised raised $1,100 for Building Homes For Heroes, which is the organization that built Sgt. Greg Caron's home in Ellington. Caron was wounded while service in the Middle East.  

The Heat has also raised money for pediatric cancer research.  

Saturday's game is against The Wolf Pack Fan Team, organized by Adam Thomas, who owns ACT Audio in Vernon. The game is a fundraiser for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
