Rockville Beat Cops Charge Alleged Pot Smokers

The three are facing a variety of charges.

A Vernon resident is facing a trio of drug charges after police on a plain clothes patrol in Rockville found him smoking marijuana behind a West Main Street residence on Friday evening, according to an arrest report.

Two others broke the law during the inched as well, police said.

On Friday at 6:30 p.m., officers assigned to the Community Policing Division out of the Ward Street sub-station were in a plain clothes capacity and observed Freddie Williams and two other men smoking suspected marijuana behind 133 West Main St., according to an arrest report.

Williams, 18, lives at 106 Prospect Street, police said.

Officers approached the group of men and found Williams to be in possession of 0.9 grams of crack cocaine and nearly 6.7 grams of marijuana, an arrest report indicates.

A subsequent search uncovered another 5.9 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia belonging to Twyon Martin, police said. A third man, Richard Paponette was also found to be in possession of marijuana, police said.

Police said Williams was charged with:

• Narcotiocs possession.
• Possession of less and a half-ounce of marijuana.
• Drug possession near a school or day care facility.

He was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in court on July 24, police said.

Martin and Paponette were both issued infraction tickets for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. Martin was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

No other information was available on Martin and Paponette in the arrest report.
