Rockville Beat Cop Catches Alleged Graffiti Artists at Amerbelle

It is the first arrest since the town was granted an enforcement injunction.

Just Days after a judge granted the town permission to enforce trespassing violations at the former Amerbelle Textiles complex in Rockville, Vernon police have taken two suspected vandals into custody.

On Thursday at 8:10 p.m., a Rockville community policing officer noticed some activity at the complex, a police spokesman said. He noticed two men standing on a loading dock and the words "no future" in green spray paint on a building, a police spokesman said.

The officer saw that Michael Capagna, 21, had matching paint on his hands, a police spokesman said.

Capagna lives at 24 Deepwood Dr., Simsbury, police said. He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, police said.

Police said Andrew Schlager, 25, of 22 North Park St., Vernon, was holding a bottle of Budweiser beer on the loading dock.

He was charged with violating the town's open container liquor ordinance and third-degree criminal mischief, police said.

Both bonds were set at $500 and both men are to appear in court on Sept. 10, police said.
