Report: Court Date Not So Civil for Couple

Police said a man broke a woman's car window after a hearing.

A Monday court hearing on Brooklyn Street wound up being not so civil, police said.

A Springfield man is facing criminal charges after he smashed a window of a woman's car following an appearance by both in civil court, police said.

Thomas Crawford, 30, was was taken into custody at 4:25 p.m. on Monday and charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breech of peace, police said. He was held overnight on a $5,000 bond with a Tuesday court date, police said.

According to an arrest report, Crawford and a woman were at the civil courthouse in Rockville for a hearing. After the appointment, Crawford and the woman were speaking and the woman wanted to end the conversation, police said.

The woman climbed in her vehicle and attempted to leave, but Crawford "punched out" window, police said.
