A Vernon woman was caught on a security camera stealing another customer's tab at a local restaurant after he paid for his meal, a Vernon police spokesman said on Friday.
The incident took place on Oct. 1 and Kami Irene Fisher, 30, of 116 High St. surrendered to police on a warrant on Thursday, a VPD spokesman said.
A man had run up a bill of $37 at the Denny's restaurant at the Tr-City Plaza that day, a police spokesman said. A security camera shows him leaving the bill, plus $40, at the cash register, a police spokesman said.
The camera also shows a woman approaching the counter after he left and taking the money, a police spokesman said.
An investigation led detectives to Fisher, a police spokesman said. A warrant was issued for her arrest on a sixth-degree larceny charge, a police spokesman said.
She was released on a promise to appear in court on Nov. 5, the date a police report lists as her birthday.
