Police: Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges for Tolland, Willimantic Men
They have Tuesday court dates, police said.
Two 21-year-olds from Tolland and Willimantic are in due in court on Tuesday to face drug charges, Vernon police said.
Their cases stem from a July 16 incident on Brooklyn Street in the Rockville section of Vernon. The car they were traveling in was pulled over for a turn signal violation at 8:10 p.m. by a Rockville beat cop, according to a police report.
The officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to a police report. The car was searched and 23.7 grams of suspected pot were located, police said.
It takes about a gram of marijuana to fill the bowl of a smoking pipe, Vernon detectives said.
Money and a scale were also found, police said.
Dillon James Harvey, of 18 Tolland Stage Rd., Tolland, was charged with possessing a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or day care facility, marijuana possession, and the use of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond, police said.
Jamie Quintanal, of 433 Windham Rd., Willimantic, was charged with drug sales, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia with fewer than 4 ounces of marijuana, police said. He was released on a $10,000 surety bond, police said.
