Police Track Down Woman After DUI Hit And Run

Vernon woman arrested after police said she fled the scene of an accident that left four people injured.

Vernon police tracked down and arrested Marie Ann Gauthier Sunday after she fled the scene of an accident at the intersection of Route 83 and Loveland Hill Road that sent four people to the hospital.

Driving north on Route 83 early Sunday morning, Gauthier, 25, drove into a car that was stopped at a red light on Loveland Hill Road, according to police, and immediately fled the scene.

According to Vernon police, officers found Gauthier at her home at 60 Old Town Road unit number 41 in Vernon after following a trail of fluids that leaked from her damaged car as it left the scene of the accident.

Three people in the vehicle Gauthier hit were transported to the hospital by ambulance, police said. One person in Gauthier's car went to the hospital as well. All injuries are non-lifethreatening, according to police.

Gauthier was found to be under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol content level of .193 and .174, well above the legal limit of .08.

Gauthier was chaged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, evading responsibility with injuries involved and a failure to drive right. She was held and issued a $10,000 bond.

A court date of June 13 has been set.
