Police: Sexual Assault Suspect Brought Back to Vernon After Fleeing to Florida

He was also wanted as part of a domestic case.

A 22-year-old Hartford man has been brought back to Vernon from Florida to answer 15 charges related to sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl, police said on Monday.

Jesus Alberto Negron, of 156 Hungerford St., Hartford, was to appear in court on Monday to answer five counts illegal sexual contact with someone younger than 16, five counts of second-degree sexual assault and five counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, police said.

He was brought to Vernon on Friday after being located in New Port Richey, FL and was held over the weekend on a $100,000 bond while awaiting his court appearance, police said.

Negron has two cases pending in Vernon. He was charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault after a Dec. 15 domestic incident, police said.

During the course of that investigation, police said they learned of the sexual relationship with the 13-year-old. Police said the relationship was described to them as consensual, but because of her age, it is illegal.

A detective was assigned to the sexual assault case, but then Negron fled the state, police said.

Vernon police were notified after Negron was picked up by the Pasco County Sheriff's Department in Florida as a fugitive from justice, Vernon police said and he was brought back to Connecticut.

His bond for the failure to appear charge on the domestic case is an additional $5,000, police said.
