Police Searching for Man Who Held Up CVS

In a crowded store, the man made off with prescription medication, police said.

Vernon police are searching for a suspect in a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery at the CVS near Vernon Circle.

Just before 2:30 p.m., Vernon Police Department received a 911 call from the pharmacy within the CVS Store at 142 Talcottville Road - state Route 83, according to a news release.

The person making the emergency call reported that a robbery had just occurred, police said.

According to the caller, a man approached the pharmacy counter and handed the pharmacist a note that demanded a large amount of an undisclosed prescription pain medication, police said.

The man said he had a gun and would use it if his demands were not met, police said. The gun was implied, but not shown, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his early 20s, approximately 5-foot-10 with a thin build - weighing between 160 and 170 pounds, police said.

He was wearing a kelly green-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a light brown/camouflaged fuzzy "arctic-style” hat with the ear flaps down, police said.

He was unshaven and had some beard growth and was wearing dark-rimmed glasses, police said.

Police said the suspect left the store and fled on foot in an unknown direction. At the time, the store was busy with customers, who were unaware the crime occurred, police said.

As part of their investigation, Vernon police detectives have released a still photo from the store’s video surveillance system.

Police said they are asking people to come forward with information about the suspect’s identity. Anyone with information about the crime can  contact the detective division at 860-872-9126, police said. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
