Police Searching for a Man Who Held Up Route 83 Pizza Place

An armed robber took money from People's Choice on Monday, police said.

Vernon police are looking for a man who entered a local pizza place on Monday night, produced a handgun and stole money before fleeing the scene on foot, according to a news release.

At about 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Vernon police received a 911 call from an employee reporting an armed robbery at People's Choice Pizza, located at 458 Talcottville Road, the corner of state Route 83 and Merline Road, according to the release.

The employee said that a black male in his mid-20s entered the store, produced a revolver and demanded money, according to the release. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, according to the release.

The man then fled the shop with an undetermined amount of money and ran through the parking lot toward Merline Road, police said.

Vernon police officers searched the area for the suspect with the assistance of a Manchester canine unit on duty at the time. The suspect was not located, according to the release.

Police said anyone who was driving on Merline Road or Route 83 at the time who may have seen the suspect can call detectives at 860-872-9126.
