Police, RHS Officials Investigating Complaint That a Man Followed a Student to School

A student reported the incident on Tuesday morning.

School and law enforcement officials are looking for a man a female student said first approached, then followed her on the way to Rockville High School on Tuesday morning.

In a letter to parents and guardians dated Tuesday, RHS principal Eric Baim said the student reported the incident when she arrived at school and the police were immediately contacted.

Police said the girl was interviewed and an investigation was launched.
That investigation is active, Baim said. Vernon police confirmed that on Wednesday.

"It is not our intention to alarm anyone, but we feel it is important that you be made aware of this matter," Baim wrote to parents and guardians.
Baim said extra attention is being paid to the areas around schools on Wednesday.

He said "the man in question" is being described as a clean-shaven, dark-haired, white male, in his 40s or early 50s. The man was driving "newer, silver or white contractor-type truck with an extended cab."

Baim added, "Apparently, this vehicle has been seen regularly on Route 30 during the last three months."

Baim said anyone with information regarding the incident can cal the school at 860-870-6050.

Vernon police san be reached at 860-872-9126.

"We are putting some extra patrols around the schools, just to keep an eye out," police spokesman Lt. William Meier said on Wednesday."
