Police Respond to Four Car Break-ins and 11 Crashes During Halloween Period

One DUI was reported.

Vernon police responded to a slew of traffic accidents and to four vehicular break-ins during the Halloween period of Wednesday and Thursday. 

Two cars were rummaged through at the condominium complex at 242 Talcottille Rd., police said. 
A car was also entered on Sunset Terrace and another on Pleasant View Drive, police said. 

Even though the cars were unlocked, police call it "constructive breaking and entering."

Police are continuing to ask resident to lock their car doors and anyone witnessing anyone tampering with a vehicle can call them at 860-872-9126.
Callers can remain anonymous. 

The break-ins were reported between Wednesday and Thursday, police said. 

On Thursday, police responded to 11 car crashes in town, according to call log records. 

The most serious took place at 7:43 p.m. as trick-or-treaters were winding down their activities, police said. 

A car driven by Amy O'Malley, 36, of Windsor, struck a parked car near Merline Road and Huntington Drive, police said. 

She was charged with failure to main a proper lane, evading responsibility and driving under the influence, police said.

She was released on a $1,000 bond and is due in court on Nov. 12, police said.
