Police: One Man Swings a Machete, Another Unearths a Real Estate Sign

Police had a flurry of activity over the long weekend.

A Manchester woman is facing a third-degree assault and second-degree breech of peace charge after an incident early this morning, Vernon police said.

Kayla Montnaro, 23, of 14 Jefferson St., Manchester, punched her former live-in boyfriend several times during an altercation, police said.

Bond was set at $250 and she is doyen in court today. police said. The incident took place at 2:45 a.m., police said.

A Mansfield man is facing several charges after he was uncooperative during a traffic stop, police said.

Police said that Joseph Treat, 31, of 80 A Baxter Road, Mansfield, provided authorities with a false name. When police did determine his real name, records showed outstanding warrants against him, according to an an arrest report.

Police said charges related the the incident include:

• Operating a motor vehicle under suspension.

• Interfering with police.

• Operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Bond: $500.
Court date: Oct. 25.

• Simple Trespass.

Bond: $500.
Court date: Oct. 25.

• Violation of probation.

Bond: $30,000.
Court date: Oct. 25.

He was arrested just after 5 p.m. on Monday, police said.

Jessie Stone, 37, of 88 Village St., was charged with disorderly conduct after a domestic disturbance with her son turned physical, police said.

She was arrested at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, police said.

She was released on a $500 bond and is due in court today, police said.

At 2:30 p.m. on Monday, police were dispatched to the shopping plaza at 458 Talcottville Road after a 911 caller reported that a man was wielding a machete on the hood of his truck, according to an arrest report.

Officers arrived at the scene and stabilized the situation, police said.

Thomas Lappen, 48, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and is due in court on Oct. 25, police said. Bond was set at $1,000, police said.

Lappen is a former employee of a business in the plaza and was allegedly upset about the treatment of his mother there, police said.

A Vernon man is facing a second-degree breach of peace charge after tackling his girlfriend twice during an argument on Sunday, police said.

Alexander Call, 21, is due in court today, police said.

Call lives at 46 Kenwood Drive, police said.

A Vernon man was charged with second-degree breach of peace on Saturday when he became upset while a real estate agent was trying to show the house at 30 Vernwood Dr. to a prospective buyer, police said.

David Maselek, 41, rents a room at the residence, police said.

The incident took place at 4:57 p.m., police said.

Police said that Maselek was yelling and swearing at the agent and those looking at the house. He pulled the real estate sign out of the lawn and was swinging it around, according to an arrest report.

He then argued with a roommate and pushed the roommate, police said.

Bond was set at $500 and Maselek is due on court today, police said.

A resident of 206 East main St. is facing a sixth-degree larceny charge for allegedly stealing money from her employer, Dunkin' Donuts, on Sept. 18, police said.

Doreen Loalbo, 46, was arrested at 1:34 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

She is due on court on Oct. 18, police said.

A Hartford man was stopped while trying to take a shopping cart from the Vernon Price Chopper on Saturday and is now facing a failure to appear in court charge, police said.
 
John Nelson, 48, was being held on a $50,000 bond this morning and is due in court today, police said.
