Police: Manchester Man breaks into Vernon Home to Get at Woman

Woman assaulted in front of children, police said.

A Manchester man is facing a book full of charges after a violent domestic incident with a woman police described as "the mother of his child'' in Vernon.

The charges for Michael Anthony Andrews, 29, of 713 West Middle Turnpike, Manchester, include:

• Third-degree assault.

• Two counts of second-degree breach of peace.

• Second-degree burglary.

• Interfering with an emergency call.

• Two counts of risk of injury to a child.

• Second-degree unlawful restraint.

Police said Andrews on Friday was involved in a physical alternation with his child's mother and the woman went to a Vernon home to seek refuge. Police did not release the location.

At 11:34 p.m., Andrews arrived at the Vernon home and forced his way into the house. He assaulted the women while two children were nearby, one being 11 months old and just inches away, police said.

Andrews then restrained the woman while she was on the phone with police, according to an arrest report.

The woman received minor injuries, police said.

Andrews was being held in a $15,000 bond and was to be arraigned in court today.
