Police: Man Walks Into Real Estate Office, Claims to Have Bomb

The incident had an implication similar to a bank robbery, police said.

Just as police were wrapping up their initial investigation into a Friday bank robbery in which the suspect said he had a bomb, a man walked into a real estate office on Hartford turnpike handmade a similar claim, according to an arrest report.

No bomb was found in either the People's United Bank branch at Tri-City Plaza or in the car the robber stole from a bank employee, police said.

None was found at the Sentry Real Estate office at 646 Hartford Turnpike, but Canaan resident Kevin Sullivan was charged with second-degree breach of peace, police said.

Police said Sullivan allegedly walked into the real estate office at 3:18 p.m. the next day and said he had a bomb.

According to an arrest report, staff members at the office asked him if he really had one, Sullivan said yes and officers were called to the scene.
Sullivan left the office and was picked up by police a short distance down the road, according to sa police report. He was brought to Rockville general Hospital for observation, police said.

Sullivan is due in court on July 2, police said. Police has just finished compiling notes after a canvass of the bank robbery area when the incident took place.
