Police: Man Douses Woman in Liquor, Looks to Ignite Her

Amaretto and a lighter were what this man allegedly used to try a light a Vernon woman on fire.

When Vernon police arrived at 144 Terrace Drive at approximately 3:28 a.m. Friday, March 21, they found a woman inside the apartment who had been soaked in Amaretto liqueur.

The woman alleged that Ramon Gomez, 32, of 39 Flower St., Manchester, poured liquor on her and attempted to light her with a disposable lighter following a physical altercation.

Several children were there and had been splashed with Amaretto as well, police said. There were no reported injuries to the children. The Department of Children and Families was notified.
