Police: Man Caught Drinking in a Parking Lot at Rush Hour

He is due in court on March 18, police said.

A man is facing a criminal charge for allegedly consuming an alcoholic beverage in his car in a busy shopping plaza during a busy time of the day, police said.

Luke Foss, 29, whose listed address is only a post office box number out of Vernon, was spotted drinking in his vehicle at 4:55 p.m. on Monday at the Tri-City shopping plaza and a passerby notified police according to an arrest report.

The Plaza is located at 35 Talcottville Rd. - Vernon Circle.

Police went to the scene, administered a field sobriety test to Foss and Foss failed it, according to an arrest report. He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence - a criminal charge - and possessing alcohol in a public area - a violation of town Ordinance 195, police said.

He was released on a $500 bond and is due in court on the day after St. Patrick's Day, police said.
