Police: Man Arrested for Smoking Marijuana in Park
Police said the man was also drinking in public.
A Vernon man was arrested on Saturday after police observed him drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana in a town park on West Street, police said.
Jahmal Mckenzie, 22, was drinking and smoking a marijuana cigarette in pubic, police said. He was taken into custody at 8:11 p.m. on Saturday, police said.
Police said he initially provided a false name because of an outstanding warrant agains him in Hartford. Vernon police were not specific about the charges out of Hartford.
He was charged with interfering with police, drug possession and possessing alcohol in public and was to appear in court today, police said.
