Police Make a Variety of Arrests

Suspects surrender to VPD.


An Enfield woman interfered with police during a traffic stop in Vernon just after midnight on Tuesday, police said.

Angelica Otero, 29, of 10 Cottage Green Dr., Enfield, was also charged with  driving under suspension and for disobeying a stop sign.

Her bond was set at $1,500 and she is due in Rockville Superior Court on Feb. 7, Vernon Police said.



Devon Smith, 27, of 48 Oxbow Dr., surrendered to police on Monday to answer a charge of evading responsibility, according to an arrest report.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court on Feb. 2, police said.



In Rocky Hill, Tracey L. Gonsalves, 42, of 1170 Hartford
Turnpike, Vernon, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said.

Gonsalves was arrested after she was caught shoplifting at the Kohl's on the Silas Deane Highway at 7:03 p.m. on Jan. 12, police said. It is unclear what Gonsalves allegedly stole from the store.



Joel Perez, 32, of 54 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, has been charged twice with third-degree burglary, along with second-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny, police said.

He was taken into custody by Berlin police on a valid warrant issued by Superior Court in Rockville and transported to Vernon, police said.

He is due in court locally on Feb. 6 on a $4,000 bond, police said.



A Newington man surrendered to Vernon police on Monday and is facing a variety of motor vehicle charges, according to an arrest report.

Police said the charges for Michael Ouimette, 24, of 55 Woodbridge Rd., Newington, include:

• Assault with a motor vehicle.
• Failure to drive right.
• DUI.
• Operating a motor vehicle without proper insurance.
• Possession of drug paraphernalia with less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
• Possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.
• Second-degree reckless endangerment.
• Traveling at an unreasonable speed.

Bond was set at $3,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7, police said.
