Police: Local Gun Store the Target of Attempted Robbery
The suspect is being sought, police said.
Vernon police are searching for a man who tried to hold up a local gun store on Friday.
At 7:04 p.m., Vernon Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Steve’s Guns, located at 623 Talcottville Rd. - Route 83.
Police said a lone male wearing a mask entered the store and displayed what is believed to be a handgun.
The man fled the store on foot toward the Countrywood condominium complex
behind the store. A police canine team searched the area but was unsuccessful in locating him, according to a news release.
No one was injured and no guns were stolen, police said.
Vernon police said anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the department at at 860-872-9126. Police said callers may remain anonymous.
