Police Investigating Burglaries In Vernon

Vernon police are looking into at least two incidents near the Manchester line.

Vernon police are investigating two residential burglaries that took place Monday afternoon.

The first occurred at 1:30 p.m. at a home on Taylor street near the Manchester line. The burglars forced open a door at the front of the house and made off with jewelry, a laptop computer, and a television, police said.

Police said neighbors reported seeing  a gray Dodge sedan - likely an Intrepid - parked in the area at the time of the burglary.

About a half-hour later, three Hispanic males stopped at a home on Bolton Road and began ringing the doorbell, police said. A resident of the home answered the door, startled the men and they quickly asked for directions to a nearby street, police said.

The men left the area in a gray sedan with  red front fender and a red driver's side door, police said.

Police said the Connecticut license plate included the numbers 1, 5 and 2, but the remainder of the plate could not be made out.

At 5:30 p.m., a burglary was reported at a condominium on Whitney T. Ferguson Road, very close to the Bolton Road home, police said. A front door was forced open and jewelry and a television were stolen, police said.

The homeowners were away and reported that the burglary took place sometime Monday afternoon, police said.

Anyone with information about the incidents can call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
