Police Locate Suspect in Stabbing Case

The victim has been released from the hospital, police said.

Vernon police on Saturday said they have located a suspect in the stabbing of an East Windsor man during a brawl in the Rockville section of town.

The victim, Robert Haskell, has been released from Hartford Hospital, police said on Saturday.

The brawl took place late Thursday night near the intersection of Ward and Union streets. Two men have been charged with rioting in a disturbance at Rockville General Hospital, where Haskell was initially taken before being transported to Hartford, police said.

With a stab wound to the chest and no ambulance immediately available, Haskell was carefully transported to Rockville General Hospital on the hood of a police cruiser.

Officers held him steady and worked on him during the short ride.

Police said they are not releasing the identity of the suspect until the investigation is complete. The suspect is cooperating, police said.

"The Vernon Police Department would like to thank the public for their help and support in this matter," Vernon police said in a statement.
