Cops: Police Dog Finds Pot in Car Parked in Front of Rockville Store Previously Raided

It is the second documented incident in a week at the Rockville Mart.

A Vernon man was charged with selling marijuana in front of a Rockville convenience store recently raided for narcotics, police said.

At 8:44 p.m. on Thursday, police noticed that a car was illegally parked in front of the Rockville Mart at 76 Union St., according to an arrest report. Police said the car was surrounded by pedestrians and was sticking out into the roadway, a busy thoroughfare into downtown Rockville.

Police approached the vehicle and began questioning the driver, Michael Nixon, 33, of 100 West St., according to an arrest report.

Police said Nixon refused to cooperate and a canine unit was brought in to search the vehicle. Police dog Narko uncovered 20 bags of marijuana, packaged for sale, police said.

Nixon was arrested and charged with possessing drugs within 1,500 feet of a school, the sale of a controlled substance and illegal parking. He is due in court on March 26 and his bond is $5,000, police said.

The Rockville Mart was raided by the East Central Narcotics Task Force on March 7 and the manager was taken into custody. Police found synthetic pot hidden in soft drink cooler, according to a task force news release.
