Police Crack Down on Commercial Vehcles

Nearly 20 vehicles found to be not road worthy during inspection detail.

Vernon police on Monday led a regional enforcement detail aimed at commercial vehicles and discovered nearly 20 treat should not have been on the road.

The detail was part of a statewide safety campaign that team up local police departments, the Metro Traffic Services Truck Squad and The Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Safety Division.

Vernon police said that on Monday, officers from Vernon and Enfield, along with DMV inspectors, examined  21 commercial vehicles on Route 83 and along the corridor of routes 30 and 31. They uncovered "numerous" violations, including 18 eighteen “out of service” violations.  

Police said that out of service violations are serious in nature and need to remedied immediately.
