Police: Broom Stick Brawler Facing FTA Charge

His bond was set at $8,000, police said.

A man accused of hitting his brother over the head with a broom stick in June has been swept back into custody for brushing aside a court appearance, police said on Thursday.

Baljit Singh, 37, of 37 Hillside Manor Ave., was charged with first-degree failure to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to an arrest report.

He was to be presented in court on Thursday on an $8,000 bond, police said.

He was initially charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace, according to police records.

Police said that during a dispute, Singh hit his brother in the head with a broom stick.
