Police Break Up Argument At Park

Police said incident included swearing in front of children.

Several people were arrested on Monday after a disturbance at a Rockville park, police said. The incident included a "large group," police said. It also included one adult using foul language while children were in the park, and another holding a knife, police said.

The incident took place at about 6:30 p.m. at the park at East Main and Park streets, police said.

Those charged, according to a police report:

• Carlos Santiago, 28, a Vernon resident with no current address. police said he was at the park during the incident and police discovered an outstanding warrant against him. He was charged with second-degree fair to appear and failure to pay or plead. Bonds totaled $2,750 and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 21, police said. For the incident, he was charged with second-degree breach of peace, which carries another $500 in bonds and he has the same court date t=for the charge, police said.

• Jason Gilnite, 37, of 80 Lyndon St., Manchester. Police said he was the primary instigator. He was being held on Tuesday morning on a $1,000 bond for second-degree breach of peace, police said. His court date is June 21, police said. 

• Robert Haskell, 19, of 57 West St., Vernon. Police identified him as an "aggressor,'' and he was holding a 4-inch knife in his hand when police arrived to break up the argument. He was being held on a $2,500 bond on Tuesday morning for second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening, police said. He is due in court on June 21, police said.

• Laurie Swart, 44, of 79 Brooklyn St., Vernon. At one point during the disturbance, she yelled profanities while children were present, police said. She was being held on Tuesday morning on a $500 bond for second-degree breech of peace and has a court date of June 21, police said.
