Police Arrest Woman on Drug Charges and Risk of Injury to a Minor

Vernon Police responding to a domestic disturbance call arrested a woman on multiple drug charges and risk of injury to a minor.

Vernon police arrested Erica Chambers, 24, on drug charges and risk of injury to a minor following a domestic disturbance call Friday morning.

Police responded to a call from Chambers' mother at 93 Windsor Ave at approximately 8:58 a.m. The mother told police she and Chambers were having a verbal argument and wanted the police to remove her daughter from her home.

When police arrived, Chambers had already left the scene with her three year old daughter. Police learned that Chambers was wanted on a prior warrant for failure to appear in Manchester Court on prior motor vehicle charges.

Officers tracked her vehicle, and stopped her on West Rd. near Route 30. Police noted the three year old was not safely restrained in a car seat nor wearing a seat belt. Chambers was placed under arrest on the outstanding State Police warrant.

A search of Chambers' purse revealed a stash of 16 plastic baggies of Phencyclidine (PCP). The bags were portioned in a manner indicating intent for street sales.
