Pedestrian Killed Wednesday in Car Accident Identified

Kathleen Jasak, 58, of Vernon, was identified by police as the pedestrian fatally struck by a car Wednesday morning on Rt. 30 in Vernon.


A 58-year-old Vernon woman, Kathleen Jasak, has been identified by Vernon police as the woman killed in a Wednesday morning accident on Rt. 30 near East Street, according to various reports.

Jasak was killed when she was struck by a Ford Focus at about 7:20 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene, WFSB-TV reported.

Wallingford resident Robert Maley, 66, was the driver of the car, according to the Fox Connecticut website.

Maley remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who have not charged him, although the investigation is continuing, the television station reported, according to WFSB-TV. A stretch of the road, also known as Hyde Avenue, was closed to traffic for several hours on Wednesday morning.

According to the Manchester Journal-Inquirer, police said the incident occurred the area of the United Bank and the Dunkin’ Donuts at Lafayette Square

Vernon police are asking that anyone who saw the accident call them at 860-872-9126.
