A look at some remarkable police cases in the state.

The Case: Fairfield police on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old Bridgeport man for playing through a little too aggressively.

The OMG PD Twist: Police said the man allegedly from an elderly woman playing golf at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield and drove the cart to Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club, where he smashed it into three golf carts, causing $1,600 in damage, as well as additional damage to the greens.

The Case: A 33-year-old Bridgeport man wasn't exactly painting by the numbers.

The OMG PD Twist: The house painter has agreed to replace any fish that may die in a Weston pond that police and environmental officials say may have been contaminated after the manin a stream that feeds it. The paint was found to be water-based and non-toxic, officials said. However, the run-off into the pond may create a hypoxic environment, endangering and possibly suffocating marine life, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. Police said they were notified of the problem when a homeowner whose property includes the pond caught the painter in the act and phoned them. The man was charged with littering.

The Case: It was a wing and a prayer for the pilot of an ultra light plane when firefighters had to come to the rescue after the aircraft that landed in a tree east of Mourning Dove Lane, near Newberry Road in East Windsor.

The OMG PD Twist: The took off from Skylark Airport, but did not have enough power to climb and ended up in a tree in a wooded, swampy area around 1:45 p.m., Warehouse Point Fire Chief Jim Barton said. The pilot was not injured, but the special operations team of the Enfield Fire Department had to rescue him, which used high angled equipment to reach him, Barton said. The pilot refused treatment at the scene, Barton added.

The Case: Click it … ticket … drink it?

The OMG PD Twist: A 41-year-old Ellington man was arrested this week for drinking alcohol in his car while Vernon police were conducting a grant-funded checkpoint, police said. The man was observed drinking a beer in his car while the enforcement efforts were taking place, police said. He passed a field sobriety test, but was charged with drinking while driving, police said.

The Case: A woman made a large at a bank on Oxford.

The OMG PD Twist: She mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal, police said. The bank was closed at the time, and nobody was injured. The woman was not charged.
