Massachusetts Man Arrested on Gun Charges

Theft charges also involved in the case, police said.

A Massachusetts man has been arrested in Vernon for carrying a stolen handgun in the state, police said.

Vernon police were not specific about where Maureis Mitchell was taken into custody, but did outline a plethora of charges against him. A larceny and burglary were also involved, police said.

The charges include:

• Third-degree burglary.

• Carrying a gun without a permit.

• Conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary.

• Conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

• Conspiracy to steal a firearm.

• Illegal transfer of a stolen revolver.

• Fifth-degree larceny.

• Theft of a firearm.

Mirtchell, 19, lives at 1 Resiner Road, Randolph, MA, just outside Boston, police said. 

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
