Manchester, Vernon Men Charged in Task Force Operation

The incident took place in Glastonbury.

Men from Vernon and Manchester are facing charges after members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force conducted a "surveillance and apprehension operation" at the 7-Eleven store on Main Street in Glastonbury on Monday, a news release states.

According to the release, task force members received information that a man using the street name, “A1,” would be arriving in a white
sedan to sell ecstasy.

Task force members made a motor vehicle stop on a white Toyota as it exited the lot, detained the passengers and the man “A1” was identified as Reyes Guzman of Manchester, the release indicates.

Task force members seized 62 Ecstasy pills, 31 grams of marijuana and $465 in cash. Task force members arrested Guzman and the driver, identified as Chad Mackenzie of Vernon. Guzman is currently on probation for Sale of Narcotics, according to the release.

Police said Guzman, 24, of 33 Sanford Rd., Manchester, and Mackenzie, 23, of 26 Union St., Vernon, have been charged with possession of ecstasy, possession of ecstasy with the intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of more than a half-ounce marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and tampering with evidence.

Their respective bonds were set at $100,000 and $50,000, police said.

The East Central Narcotics Task Force, in cooperation with other municipal, and federal law enforcement agencies, is charged with stopping illegal narcotics sales and use in the Manchester, South Windsor,
Vernon and Glastonbury.
