Man Now Has Assault Charges in Vernon and Manchester

He was taken into custody overnight in Vernon after a domestic incident, police said.

A New Haven man already on probation - and with a pending assault case in Manchester - spent the night in jail after a domestic incident led to a number of criminal charges against him in Vernon, police said.

At 10:22 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a call from a resident of 28 Thompson St., who said someone was trying to break into the house.

Police encountered a domestic violence situation and arrested Francis Wright, 28, of 141 Sheffield Ave., New Haven, according to an arrest report.

Wright was charged with:

• Third-degree assault.
• Second-degree breach of peace.
• Third-degree criminal mischief.
• Disorderly conduct.
• Interfering.
• Second-degree strangulation.
• Second-degree unlawful restraint.

His bond was set at $50,000 with a Wednesday court date in Rockville, police said.

Another $10,000 was tacked onto his bond for a charge of violating probation, police said.

Wright is also due in Manchester Superior Court on Feb. 28 to address an assault charge. He was free on a promise to appear for that case, court records indicate.
